Group Life Insurance

A group-term life insurance plan provides insurance for a group of employees under a group insurance contract held by the employer. Typically, the coverage is in effect only as long as the employee remains with that employer. If the plan qualifies under Code section 79, the cost of the first $50,000 is tax free to employees.
